Let me tell you a story about the time I was more famous than a 12th-century world heritage site. It all started on May 27th when I was born a black female human specimen. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ(Laughs in Korean at her own joke)
So I woke up this morning as a regular girl, minding her own business- as per usual- just getting ready to see one of the most talked about landmarks of the world. I step outside my hostel and I spotted my soon-to-be tuk tuk driver for the entire day- Mr.Phan. Mr. Phan and I make a schedule of all the things I want to see and how low long I want to stay out 11-6 and I’d give him $12. Didn’t even have to barter. Everything was rosy people!
Throughout my adventures, everyone was giving me the “Oh, it’s a black person” look, and that didn’t bother me anymore until I went to the area with the smiling faces. The minute I stepped inside I was swarmed by Chines tourist. I was completely caught off guard by people wrapping their arms around me and taking pictures so I didn’t know what to do. I was completely shell shocked. There was a queue of them you guys! I wish I was joking but I’m not. It was completely embarrassing watching all the other foreigner pass by and staring at what was happening. Le sigh. This went on for the rest of the day so I cut my trip short and went back to my hostel at 3.
Honestly, by the end of the day, I felt completely defeated. Oh, well.
